06:51 AM In Re The Facebook Post Of Threats In Barbour County

BARBOUR COUNTY:    06:51 AM.    Many people received the Facebook Threat that was circulated last night concerning threats in schools in Eufaula and Georgetown Georgia.


When those threats were received on my phone I immediately took the following steps while standing on the sidewalk outside Big Mike’s In Headland where I had just ate supper;


1. I copied the FB post and sent it to Captain Heath Carpenter, Commander Of this District Of ( Alabama ) State Bureau Of Investigation. Captain Carpenter replied “Thank you. I was working on something similar...”


2. I copied the FB post and sent it to Colonel Charles Ward, who is the man in charge of the entire State of Alabama Troopers all across this state. Colonel Ward replied “got someone looking into it from our end”.


3. I copied the FB post and sent it to Ronnie Dollar, Emergency Management Director for Henry County. Director Dollar was a long time Law Enforcement Officer with Eufaula Police Department and Barbour-Bullock County District Attorney. I knew Ronnie knew who with Eufaula Police to contact to make sure the proper people knew of this FB threat. And Director Dollar followed up with a text he had passed it on and was confident it would be handled.


4. I sent the FB post to Dothan-Houston County Emergency Management Director Chris Judah making sure that he felt I had covered the appropriate basis.


This morning pursuant to a call about this post and parental concern, while the post did not contain Henry County, they asked was Henry County Sheriff Will Maddox aware. I did not call Sheriff Maddox but called his Chief Deputy Nicewanger. He knew of FB message and additional steps of precaution has been taken for Henry County.


TO THE PARENTS IN EUFAULA ALABAMA:  


While your current Sheriff Leroy Upshaw is waiting for his term to end and has quit working but not drawing a check, I have zero confidence in him so I did not contact him. I have tried to meet the Eufaula Police Chief but there was always an excuse and have never met him or received a return phone call.


But I notified Colonel Charles Ward and Captain Heath Carpenter. I will stake my life on the fact these two men have taken every step possible and will make sure the children are protected. Same in Henry County.
