DOTHAN: 09:17 AM Dothan 911 dispatched Dothan Police - Dothan Fire and Pilcher Ambulance to 3050 East Burdeshaw Street in reference to a motor vehicle accident with critical injuries.
The accident involves a Fed Ex truck verses a power pole, lines down and sparking at this time. Reports to Dothan Police 911 flames were from the utility pole that connects to the commercial building of Marty Robbins Roofing.
When Dothan Police arrived they reported that there were no injuries in this accident. The driver is where he can not exit the vehicle because of the downed power lines. There is no active fire.
Dothan Utilities is responding in order to cut the power where the Fed Ex driver can exit the vehicle. But again, the call was dispatched as critical injuries based on what was reported to the Dothan Police 911. When officers arrived the call was updated to no injuries.
FIRST RESPONDERS are utility companies. Emergency units can not rescue patients or extinguish fires when live power lines are down.
The original call was dispatched at 9:11 AM. By 9:23 AM Dothan Fire Battalion Chief Keith Gasiter reported the power has been cut and the Fed Ex Driver has exited the vehicle.
