COLUMBIA: 9:31 AM. Houston County Sheriff 911 dispatched an apartment structure fire at 110 Bremond Street in Columbia. A single story brick structure with three apartments, the middle one being on fire.
Columbia Fire, Webb Fire, Columbia Rescue, Columbia Police, Dothan - Houston County Emergency Management responded.
Columbia Fire, under the command of Acting Fire Chief Clint Wright, made a quick attack from the windows and then an interior attack getting the fire under control.
One of residents attempted to go back into the apartment and had smoke inhalation. Pilcher Ambulance was called to the scene because the Columbia Rescue staff were multi-tasking between rescue and fire fighting.
Alabama Power was called to the scene.
A Houston County Sheriff Investigator has been requested to determine the cause of the fire.
Columbia Mayor Rhonda Freeman was on the scene. Mayor Freeman is doing a wonderful job of getting Columbia on track.
Dothan - Houston County Emergency Management Staff Nick Stringer and Matt Boster suited up and jumped in assisting in fighting the fire.
The management of the apartment complex has already placed the displaced residents in other apartments. Some residents do have needs. Three units displaced. Anyone wishing to donate call Columbia City hall at 334-693-4417. Gift cards are great to help.
