HOUSTON COUNTY: Just as the fireworks show was ending tonight at the National Peanut Festival Fairgrounds a missing persons call came into the Sheriff 911 Center.
The 911 Center contacted Dothan - Houston County Emergency Management Director Chris Judah. The information given was two males and one female were lost on the Little Choctahatchee River. They made it to the bank and was under some power lines but unsure exactly where they were located.
Director Judah spoke with Sheriff Patrol Lt. Tony Turner Who was also working the fireworks show. They then met with Tim McDonald, Dale County Sheriff pilot who was also at the fairgrounds.
The missing persons battery was growing weak. Turner and Judah stayed in phone contact and rolled to Wicksburg.
McDonald and co-pilot went airborne. Houston County Sheriff Deputies Hopkins and Grantham were working the fireworks show. They had the Sheriff four wheelers. They rolled.
Matt Boster, a volunteer with Emergency Management worked the fireworks show. Boster had a Gator and he rolled.
It was determined the missing trio were located behind a residence on Holland Road. The Dale County Sheriff air unit found them and guided them out with lights flying overhead. Finally they made contact with the sheriff Deputies.
Wicksburg Fire - Rescue responded on stand by. When the victims were found the rescue unit checked them to make sure they were okay.
