DOTHAN: This year’s Houston County Gives Day (HCGD) is scheduled for April 12 from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at Eagle Eye Outfitters. This event serves as the kick off for the 30th annual Spirit of Service Day, set for April 13. HCGD is a great way for companies and individuals alike to meet with multiple organizations with which they would like to volunteer and support.

It also serves as a major media outreach for those in need of the agencies’ services. Nonprofits that want to participate must have a 501(c)(3) and a physical office in Houston County. The agency must submit its logo and current contact information to [email protected] by March 29 to participate. Nonprofits that have not participated in previous years must email a copy of their current IRS 501(c)(3) document by March 29.

In addition, the deadline for T-shirt orders must be received by March 29 via email. Each qualifying nonprofit organization will be invited to set up a table to share their mission with potential volunteers, donors and clients. Refreshments will be provided by The Salvation Army as long as supplies last. Eagle Eye Outfitters will have special offers for customers again this year.

The Dothan City Animal Shelter will be bringing adoptable pets to the event. This event is also a great opportunity for high school students, clubs and individuals who are looking for an organization with which to volunteer. “We are so grateful to have people come and participate every single year. I think this year will be the best one yet. I’m so proud of our local community pulling together to support these wonderful nonprofit organizations.

It is a heart-warming and fun event, which also provides an opportunity to residents to give back to their communities,” said David Duke, Executive Director of Wiregrass 2-1-1.
