4th Case of Rabies in Houston County

According to the Houston County Health Department 4 cases of rabies have been confirmed this year. On September 2nd a raccoon found on Ready Rd in Houston County tested positive for the disease.


The Houston County Health Department has advised to caution your children when it comes to petting and playing with stray or wild animals. Report stray animals to the local Animal Control Officials right away.


Alabama law requires ALL cats and dogs to be vaccinated against the rabies disease at age 3 months and older.



If you are bitten buy a stray or wild animal, wash the wound with soap and water right away and immediately seek medical attention.
