HOUSTON COUNTY: At 6:25 PM... The decision has been made to CLOSE the Gordon Boat Landing. The flood stage for the river is around 104 feet and the river is now around 96 to 98 feet. Houston County Sheriff’s Donald Valenza, Houston County EMA Director Chris Judah, Gordon Police Officer Jones and Gordon Fire Chief Justin McCallister have been monitoring the river levels all day. They are waiting for some boaters to come back to the landing.
Judah and Valenza have also been watching the river level at Columbia. As of right now, no mandatory evacuations have been issued. Director Judah wants everyone living on the river to keep a close eye on the levels.
Water levels can rise quickly, so stay alert...
