DOTHAN - HOUSTON COUNTY: On the authority of National Weather Service, Dothan - Houston County Emergency Management Director Chris Judah has given the green light that all weather warnings and watches are cancelled.
The storms today, according to the National Weather Service, “popped up” without warnings.
Emergency Management agencies - no where does the title or logo read “meteorologists”. The National Weather Service are the trained meteorologists that keep the Emergency Management Agencies informed and up to date on the weather.
Today, when the TORNADO WARNINGS were issued, Director Chris Judah was already in the office and he and the staff of the 911 Center’s set the OUTDOOR weather sirens off.
Director Judah also encourages people to sign up on the Dothan - Houston County Emergency Management web site for “ CODE RED “. That service alerts your phone.
The “outdoor sirens” are just as described, OUTDOOR. Code Red system is designed to send alerts to your telephones.
Also Director Judah encourages weather radios. Often times those can be purchased through local stores such as WalMart.
Emergency Management - resource managers for agencies that provide emergency services. Emergency Management develops plans and contingency plans for the efficient and smooth operations of different emergencies.
Emergency Management works hand in hand with various service providers to the public. This cooperation ranges from law enforcement, Fire, EMS, public utilities, public health, Salvation Army, VOAD, 211, road and bridge agencies, public works, Red Cross, hospitals and a multitude of other agencies.
