MONTGOMERY:    There are 9 days and counting until 35 Alabama Senators and 105 Alabama House of Representative convene in Montgomery Alabama.

The fights have been brewing and are in full swing, and getting heated up by the seconds.

Sonny Brasfield of the Alabama Association of County Commissioners said in a TWITTER message " time to move Alabama forward, the cost of doing nothing is to costly for Alabama's future."

The Alabama GOP voted to not support the gas tax for roads.

Houston County Commissioner Chairman Mark Culver said in a TWITTER Message "once again the morons at ALGOP have chosen politics over safety of our citizens and future of our State and local economies. Most of them haven't a clue on the condition of our road system. I am a 32 year elected Republican County Official and former State Executive Committee member. Seen this movie before".

Henry County Probate Judge/Commission Chairman David Money said in a TWITTER Message " I agree totally. I was there yesterday. Embarrassing, So many sheep can led in any direction. To those who introduced that ridiculous resolution, please share with us your solution to a problem that is only getting worse day by day."

A resolution was presented at the Alabama GOP conference this weekend. It was presented by Morgan County's Tom Fredrick's and brought to the floor. The resolution took aim at the upcoming legislative session which begins March 5 and concluded that the GOP Party REJECTS any increase to the current state fuel tax.

While Fredrick's worked with former Alabama Senator Trip Pittman to reword his resolution to better fit his intended results, Frederick's scraped his and Pittman's work and reverted to his original resolution.

This led to a shouting match between members of the GOP executive committee on Saturday. After a lot of back and forth the Alabama Republican Party Executive Committee voted to adopt Frederick's original resolution, 61 to 39%.

That vote led to the TWITTER messages of Houston County Commission Chairman Mark Culver and Henry County Probate Judge/Commission Chairman David MOney.

LIQUOR SALES

Alabama Senator Arthur Orr ( R-Decatur ) is trying to shake up the State's liquor retail sales.

Orr's bill would phase out Alabama's 170 state run ABC stores over a period of years by privatizing the retail function of the Alcoholic Beverage Control.

Orr has attempted this legislation before and they have never made it to the floor.

Since 1937 Alabama has been in the liquor sales. Over the past 80 years the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board has raised a little over $ 6 billion dollars in tax revenue. 

Some Alabama Lawmakers claim the state could get the same amount of tax revenue from full privatization while also saving tens of millions of dollars on the cost of the retail operations.

So watch for a lot of debate, accurate and misinformation as both sides argue their cases.

DAYS COUNTING QUICKLY

Many Alabama counties working to increase funding. Legislators are not willing to talk to local governing officials on raising taxes. 

But this is the first of the four years for these officials. The time you raise taxes is the first of the four years. Hoping voters will forget in four years.
