According to the National Weather Service Hurricane Irma has taken a more westerly track which increases the impact to our area. Conditions are expected to start deteriorating Sunday afternoon and continue to be dangerous well into Monday. 2" to 4" inches of rain are expected in our region. Wind damage, possibly exstensive, is the main concern at this time and extended power outages are possible. All preparations should be made by Sunday afternoon!
Shelters will be opened at 4 P.M. Sunday afternoon and are located at the Headland First Baptist Church at 301 E Church St, Headland, AL 36345 and Abbeville United Methodist Church at 100 W Kelly, Abbeville, AL 36310.
Henry County Schools and Abbeville Christian Academy will be closed Monday and Tuesday of next week.
