ALABAMA: There are several facts about ALEA - State Trooper Colonel Charles Ward.
Those facts are he works hard, went through the ranks from Trooper to Colonel to command the entire State of Alabama State Troopers and Driver License Division for ALEA.
Charles Ward is a quick thinker. One night in rural Dale County a officer was shot. It was going to take time for the ambulance to arrive. Trooper Charles Ward, who is large man, put the law enforcement officer in his Trooper car and rushed him to the hospital faster than the ambulance could get on the scene. The officer is alive today.
Charles Ward is a honest man who is going to do the honest and right thing. And he is going to make sure the citizens of the State of Alabama and guest thereof are served with professionalism and courteous service. Even though when a officer issues a traffic citation the person is going to be upset, often times.
What I wanted you to know tonight about Colonel Charles Ward. It was 8:33 PM tonight that I overheard Colonel Charles Ward call "end tour of duty for the day" ( 10-42 ).
You can hear him early in the morning call DPS-1 is 10-41 ( beginning tour of duty ) and late at night call DPS-1 10-42 ( ending tour of duty ).
You can also hear Colonel Charles Ward on the streets at time working. Not just management from the office but on the streets.
Often times the leader being heard on the radio, the officers on the streets perk up and pay attention.
Recently on a Saturday you heard Dothan Police Chief Steve Parrish on the radio all of sudden speak. The officers went - That's OUR Chief.
Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza, every day you hear him go...3801 ( Sheriff radio call number ) 10-8 ( In Service ).
Same goes for other counties with Will Maddox in Henry County, Dale County with Wally Olson and Mason Bynum, Ozark Police Chief, Coffee County Sheriff Dave Sutton and Chief Deputy Ronnie Whitworth, Geneva County with Tony Helms and Jackson County Florida with Lou Roberts.
All work and also perform administrative tasks.,
