ABSENTEE DEADLINE THURSDAY to vote in June 5 Primary

This THURSDAY, MAY 31, 2018, is the deadline to apply for an absentee ballot for the June 5, 2018, Primary Election.  Due to the fast-approaching deadline, it is recommended to absentee vote to personally deliver applications to the Absentee Election Manager's Office, Room 405, of the Houston County Courthouse.  No third-party delivery is allowed.  Office hours are 8:00-12:00 and 1:00-4:30.  Party preference must be notated; no crossover voting is allowed in Primary Runoff.   To vote by mail, the voter may obtain an application online at www.alabamavotes.gov and mail to the Absentee Election Manager at P.O. Drawer 6404, Dothan, AL  36302.  ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY THURSDAY, MAY 31, 2018!!!  Please review important dates below regarding ballots.


IMPORTANT DATES


Thursday, May 31, 2018: This is the last day voters may apply for a regular absentee ballot for the June 5, 2018, Primary Election.  Applications must be received in the Absentee Election Manager’s Office on this date.  No ballots can be mailed to voters after this date.  Only one application per envelope accepted; Party preference must be notated.


Monday, June 4, 2018:  This is the last business day before the election and is the last day a voter can return in person his or her regular absentee ballot. No one, not even a family member, can return another person’s ballot, except a medical emergency ballot. This is the last day to vote business emergency ballots.  While this date is a State holiday, the Houston County Courthouse will be open to accept ballots and process emergency applications. 


Tuesday, June 5, 2018:  Mailed ballots must be received in the Absentee Election Manager’s Office no later than noon this date.  Emergency medical ballots must be received by noon on this date in the Absentee Election Manager’s Office by the designee.
