Alabama Retail Association Expects more Spending this Year than Last

MONTGOMERY, AL (WSFA) - Have you started your Christmas shopping yet? The Alabama Retail Association predicts you'll spend more money on the holidays this year than last.
The Retail Association expects holiday spending in Alabama to exceed $11.5 Billion, that's a two percent growth from last year. The National Retail Federation is projecting holiday sales nationwide to reach between $678.8 billion and $682 billion with consumers spending an average of $935.58 each.
The "official" start of the Christmas shopping season is usually the Friday after Thanksgiving, but according to the Alabama Retail Association, many of us have already started.
The Alabama Retail Associated is kicking off its annual "Shop Alabama for the Holidays" campaign, encouraging shoppers to spend their holiday shopping and dining dollars locally. The statewide shopping initiative also celebrates the in-store shopping experience with the #BabyItsSoldInside campaign, Brick-and-mortar retail is alive and well for the holiday season.
