DOTHAN, Ala (WDHN) - Dothan Police Department is hiring for a part-time police officer to ensure safety at Dothan City Schools.


The City of Dothan's School Protection and Response Initiative developed the school protection officer position for 15 schools.


The officer will work 187 days out of the school year, and the starting salary will be $27,000 per year.


"We will pay the FICA as well," says Chief Steve Parrish.


The application closing date is Friday, Sept. 28, if selected the next steps of the process will be a firearms test on Wednesday, Oct. 17.
