Arrest Made in Resent Dale County Church Burglaries

On July 7th and 8th Dale County Deputies responded to three burglaries of churches in the Marley Mill, Rocky Head and Ariton communities. Sound equipment, TV’s and other miscellaneous items were taken during the burglaries. On Sunday we received a tip from a citizen that accelerated the pace of the investigation. Today we were contacted by the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office with a lead that further corroborated the citizen’s tip we had received earlier in the week. Today around 1:30PM the suspect vehicle was spotted by a DCSO Deputy on Hwy 231 in Ozark. Deputies conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and recovered stolen items from the burglaries inside the vehicle. Investigators executed a search warrant at a local motel where numerous other stolen items were recovered that are believed to have been taken during burglaries in Barbour, Henry and Dale Counties.  


 


We have charged Diamond Brown and Breon Richardson  each with one count of Burglary 3rd and Theft of Property 4th.  We do anticipate numerous other counts of Receiving Stolen Property once we are able to process all of the evidence and identify were it was stolen from.  The case is still ongoing and additional arrests are likely.


 


Based on our investigation the burglary at  Ebenezer Baptist Church is unrelated to the others and we have identified two additional suspects that we will be seeking warrants on as well. Both suspects in that case are believed to be juveniles and their names will not be released at this time.


 


This has been a joint effort between DCSO, Coffee County SO, Barbour County SO, Henry County SO, Eufaula Police Dept. and the Ozark Police Dept. Without the community’s assistance and the collaboration between the law enforcement agencies this result would have not been possible.  



Both subjects are currently being held under no bond at the Dale County Jail pending their 1st appearance.
