ASHFORD:   The Ashford City Cuncil met tonight for their regularly scheduled council meeting. A pretty full house present for the meeting.

ASHFORD LOIN’S CLUB

The Ashford Loin’s Club started a drive to help the Ashford Rescue UNit out. The Lion’s Club challenged others to help in raising funds for the Ashford Rescue Unit.

In the end $ 16,300.00 was raised by multiple groups in Ashford. Recently the Town of Cowarts made a donation to the Ashford Rescue Unit. The City of Ashford, State Farm and others made donation.

This donation helps Ashford Rescue in purchasing heart monitors. These units help identify Important medical information and transmit that information to the hospital.

Ashford Rescue serves from the four way stop in Cowarts east to Gordon/ A large run territory with 90 to 100 calls a month. The unit operates on volunteers and part time paid staff. When say part time paid staff, no where near what a person with medical training should be paid.

Ashford Rescue spends their money on equipment to treat patients. Unlike some medical providers ( Hospital ), Ashford spends their money where it counts, equipment to treat the patient, which is their mission. Unblind some hospitals that I will not mention ( SAMC ) who spends $ 1.2 to re-brand and change their name.

Tommy and Diane Watson have been the driving force behind Ashford Rescue for years. They are working to pass the torch somewhat to younger members. If you would like to be part of the Ashford Rescue Team stop by the Ashford Rescue building.

ASHFORD RE-DEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY

The Ashford Council appointed the three members Ashford Downtown Re-Development Authority. Mr Brad Kimbro was selected as Chairman. They will meet Tuesday evening at 6 PM at the Depot in Ashford.

Brad Kimbro told the Ashford Town Council that Ashford has a lot to offer. Kimbro asked the council to consider a $ 5,000.00 funding source to give seed money in order to help get started.

PARK DIRECTOR

Council Member Denise was on it tonight. She was against the hiring of a park director. After her speech a motion was made to hire Mr. Edmundson from Rehobeth as Park Director.

The council talked about the lights at the ball fields. A fee of $ 25.00 was discussed. There has been some controversy over the $ 25 light fee for the local teams of Ashford that are members of the travel ball team. The issue will be voted on at the next meeting.

But the discussion continued on about even tough they have the $ 25 light fee, they must be cut off by 9 PM. Also that the bathrooms would be locked and not available for the practice.

I am not a Ashford resident but I have problems with that. That is just down right crappy that they would not unlock the restrooms. So bring your own toilet paper and use the woods. Just plain wrong.

AND MORE OF DENISE COMPLAINTS

DENISE WAS ON IT TONIGHT. She complained about everything tonight. One was the water bills. But no one on the board was quick thinking. Someone should have made a motion to put Denise over the water bills, second the motion and passed. Then it would be put up or shut up time.

Denise was all over the Mayor and complained and complained. A lot should have been addressed in private rather than public.

HOW CAN ASHFORD DCOMPLAIN IF THEY DO NOT KEEP THEIR OWN HOUSE UP?

Councilman Gary Gibson brought up a good point that he had been asked. The City of Ashford has sent letter demanding cars be moved and property cleaned up.

Councilman Gibson asked how could the City demand others be cleaned up when they had a fence that needed to be torn down and overgrown ditches. No real answer was given.
