HOUSTON COUNTY: Late in 2017 Alabama Attorney General Steve Marshall, a failed appointment of Former Alabama Governor Robert Bentley, was gasping for something to place him in the headlines with the elections of 2018.
So Marshall wasted 6 Law Enforcement Officers time and resources from “real crime”, like murders across the state, and placed them in Center Stage. None of the 6 being experts in the field of electronic bingo, Marshall through Assistant Attorney General John L. Kachelman III filed a lawsuit against Center Stage.
Of course Quackaman had to amend the lawsuit because he screwed the first set up. But Quackaman and Marshall have asked a Houston County Circuit Court Judge to kill the 100 plus jobs at Center Stage UNTIL there can be a hearing to see if the facility is legal or illegal.
Court was set for this next week. The lead attorney for Center Stage, Ernie Hornsby, has emergency surgery. Hornsby’s recovery has not been to the degree expected and Hornsby, through co-counsel Ashton Ott, asked the hearing to be continued in order for Hornsby to be present.
Of course Quackaman and Marshall, in desperate attempts to satisfy one of their Houston County donors, objected. Quackaman and Marshall did not care about Hornsby’s health and asked the Judge to not continue the hearing.
The Judge, Kevin Moulton, knowing the honesty and integrity of Ernie Hornsby, knowing the truthfulness of the reason for a continuance, Judge Moulton granted the continuance. The case is set for April 19 - 20. The hearing will be simply the Attorney General asking Judge Moulton to kill the 100 plus jobs where people are working, until Quackaman and Marshall can have a full hearing to determine if Center Stage meets Quackaman and Marshall’s approval.
Election date is June 5th. On that date the people of the State of Alabama will punt Steve Marshall from office - hopefully.
Marshall had a fund raiser at the Dothan Country Club several weeks ago. Only about 10 people attended, two of which are has been‘s. One was a wealthy businessman who has been an outspoken critic of Country Crossings and Center Stage.
The State of Alabama has become known for the high rate of murders. Jefferson County ( Birmingham ) there were triple digit murders in 2017. There was a man gunned down blocks from Attorney General Steve Marshall’s Office immediately following his testifying in Montgomery Circuit Court.

Yet Steve Marshall ( could be from Atmore - Indians ) focus is not getting the State of Alabama changed from one of the highest murder rates in this state - no he assigns 6 investigators on electronic bingo. What a WHACKO!
Steve Marshall, Kachelman ( or Quackaman ) and his non gaming experts - Special Agents Richard G. Windham, Jake Frith, Jeff Chandler, Robert Moore and two others, Marshall felt the resources were not to be spent on saving people’s life from brutal murders in Alabama. It was best spent on bingo.
Could it be that Steve Marshall is playing to a wealthy donor?
