We don't always recognize the hard work of our Dispatchers the way that we should. This audio demonstrates just how important a well-trained, cool-under-pressure, always-thinking dispatcher really is to the overall outcome of an emergency.
This house fire in the 2100 block of N. Ann Arbor occurred on February 3 at 4:39 a.m. A neighbor noticed the fire and called 911. This caller was fantastic and should also be commended. The Fire Dispatcher obtained a phone number for the house where the fire was happening. The dispatcher called not once, but twice, and finally woke the unaware occupant.
In our area we have some of the GREATEST 911 dispatchers. The job they undertake everyday is to large to even describe.
I have the pleasure of seeing the Dothan Police and Houston County Sheriff 911 Dispatchers often. But I listen to multiple agencies daily and what these 911 Dispatchers do is awesome. They are unnoticed most of the time but they are the most crucial part of the emergency network.
The reason I say that is, the 911 dispatcher is the link between the public and emergency services, and emergency services and resources they need.
The 911 dispatchers get the proper information to make the emergency responders fully aware of what situation they are going into. Law Enforcement - Fire - EMS - Utilities.
This call is not from here. But it features what 911 dispatchers do.
