BALDWIN COUNTY, AL (WALA) - A Baldwin County Sheriff's Deputy is hospitalized after he was shot while on duty Tuesday morning.
Sheriff Huey "Hoss" Mack said Cpl. Michael Walker was wounded while responding to a domestic violence call near Stockton.
Investigators said it all started around 8:42 p.m. Monday when a woman was attacked in the Latham community. The sheriff said Forrest Bullin, 37, threw a woman out of a car and off of a bridge.
Around 1 a.m. Tuesday, investigators learned that Bullin was hiding in his home on Highway 59. Cpl Walker arrived at the home at 1:27 a.m.
Sheriff Mack said Bullin fired a shotgun at the officers. Cpl. Walker was hit in the face and upper torso and rushed to USA Medical Center in Mobile. He's listed in serious but stable condition and is expected to recover.
