Bascom Man Charged with Obstruction

On the evening of August 11, 2018 a Deputy with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office conducted a probable cause traffic stop on a vehicle for the infraction of the driver not wearing a safety belt on Penn Avenue. While making contact with the occupants of the vehicle, the Deputy immediately recognized the front seat passenger of the vehicle, from previous unrelated encounters, as Joshua D. Phillips. Phillips provided the Deputy with a false name and other information related to his identity. Phillips was detained and later placed under arrest for knowingly and willfully attempting to obstruct a law enforcement officer by disguise during the course of lawful duties. Phillips was transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance on his charge.
