DOTHAN, AL (WSFA) - It may come down to a matter of wording on whether a Dothan motorcycle club can keep its business license. The city commission held a public hearing Tuesday to discuss the future of Chaotic Few Motorcycle Club.
The Dothan Planning Department says the club initially applied for a club license but it was denied because of zoning. Then, they applied for a business license saying they were a motorcycle repair shop, which is allowed activity in that area.
"They basically falsified an application to obtain a license so they could get the utilities turned on so they could use it as a clubhouse," said Revenue Officer Garry Shirah.
Greg Drescher spoke to the commission on behalf of the club - admitting they weren't technically a for-profit business, but what they put down on their application is true. "Technically our business license says we are Chaotic Few Motorcycle Repair and we do repair each other's motorcycles."
Drescher says the group gets together at their clubhouse off Napier Field Road on Fridays and Saturdays to bond over bikes and sometimes beer. He says they also host service projects for the community.
