Birmingham: Following a successful tenure as Artistic Director that began in 2016, Brandon Bruce has been formally named Executive Artistic Director of the Birmingham Children’s Theatre. His predecessor, Scarlotte Deupree Kilgore, is stepping down to join her husband who has been offered a high profile position overseas. Previously, Brandon was the Senior Manager of Performance Interpretation for the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation, and Artistic Director of Chicago’s Strawdog and BackStage Theatres.
Bruce says "Scarlotte Kilgore did so much to help and guide me since the beginning and it’s an honor to succeed her. I’m excited
to be the new steward of such a magical organization and look forward to leading the charge to make the absolute best theatre possible for the children and families of Birmingham. "
Paul Bolus, President of BCT’s Board of Trustees, is "thrilled to have Brandon Bruce as Executive Artistic Director. Brandon has brought a passion for professionalism and quality shows to BCT as Artistic Director these last two years and we are excited to see what he will accomplish in his elevated role as Executive Artistic Director."
“While I am sad to leave,” said Ms. Kilgore, “I cannot think of anyone more qualified or passionate than Brandon Bruce to continue to foster BCT’s legacy in our community. I am excited to see the growth that I know BCT will experience because of Brandon Bruce!”
