ALABAMA: Former U.S. Rep. Bobby Bright is looking to unseat incumbent U.S. Rep. Martha Roby in the upcoming Republican primary election for Alabama's 2nd congressional district.
Bright announced his campaign and party swap Thursday, according to Katie Lansord, ALGOP director of communications and marketing.
In 2008, Bright, the former mayor of Montgomery, previously ran as a Democrat and defeated former State Representative Jay Love. The seat opened after eight-time winner Republican Rep. Terry Everett retired. Roby then ran on the Republican ticket in 2010 and unseated Bright.
