COTTONWOOD, Alabama – October 27, 2017 - We are aware of the order issued yesterday in State of Alabama v. River City Entertainment, et al. (Circuit Court of Morgan County, Alabama, Case No. 2017-900460). Unlike Houston County, Morgan County does not have a Constitutional Amendment that allows the operation of bingo games by nonprofit organizations for certain charitable, educational, or other lawful purposes at the River City Entertainment location.
The order from the Morgan County Circuit Court is based upon an agreement reached between the Attorney General and River City Entertainment, not on a factual finding by the court after the presentation of evidence and argument. Furthermore, there is no indication that River City Entertainment operated traditional paper bingo games, like those at Center Stage. As we have stated previously, the only way guests win or lose money at Center Stage is by participating in a traditional paper bingo game that includes all of the elements outlined by our local Judge Conaway and our Alabama Supreme Court in their respective opinions. It has always been our intent that our operation comply with applicable law, and it is our position that our current operations do, in fact, comply with applicable law.
