HOUSTON COUNTY:    Last evening Houston County Commission Chairman Mark Culver asked the local Houston County Republican Committee to adopt a resolution in support of Alabama Governor Kay Ivey and against the position of the Alabama State Republican Party.

And the committee adopted the resolution as Chairman Culver asked in a split vote.

Chairman Mark Culver, the first Republican elected in Houston County some 32 years ago, apologized to the local Republican Committee if his language offended anyone from social media posts he made on Saturday. Chairman Culver said his wife reminded him he was passionate about his job of 32 years and his language could have offended some fellow Republicans. While Culver said he apologized only for the language but not the message.

While I never saw Chairman Culver's FACEBOOK, his TWITTER message called the Alabama State GOP morons after they passed a resolution against the wishes of Alabama Governor Kay Ivey.

According to Chairman Culver, Governor Ivey asked the State Republican Committee not to take a stand on upcoming legislation. This legislation concerns the plans for a gas tax specifically for roads, bridges and infrastructure across the State of Alabama. The Alabama Association of County Commissioners is very strong in favor of the legislation. However Chairman Culver said the Alabama State Republican Committee instead listened to a man who lost the last two elections and voted against Governor Kay Ivey's wishes.

Chairman Culver said Governor Ivey was basically SLAPPED in the face on Saturday by the Alabama State Republican Party.

Governor Ivey announced just yesterday she would unveil her plan on Wednesday and the State Committee voted Saturday.

Chairman Culver said to the Houston County Republican's that he was not asking for a vote "for" the tax or "in support" of the tax, but a resolution standing "with" Alabama Governor Kay Ivey and "against" the resolution of the Alabama State Republican Party.

Houston County Commissioner - District Four - Brandon Shoupe said that Terry Latham, Chair of the Alabama Republican Party lost control of the meeting for about 15 minutes. That as Chairman Latham should have known Roberts Rules of Order since she has served as Republican State Chairman for the past four years. Commissioner Shoupe explained what happened and that Latham lost complete control.

ALABAMA STATE REPUBLICAN PARTY

Remember the Alabama State Republican Party of which Chairman Mark Culver and Commissioner Brandon Shoupe is speaking of, that is the same group that kicked Senator Harri Anne Smith from the Republican Party because she has a backbone. She was willing to put "people" over "party".

While some names have changed the sliminess of which is on the Alabama State Republican Committee still exists.

Not taking sides on the issue but I will agree with they are morons. But often times being a moron is a qualification for office! Just saying - not in every case but in some!

GAS TAX LEGISLATION

The 2019 Alabama Legislative Session is going to be a hot - hot session. The Gas Tax, many across Alabama have drawn lines in the sand with each other. TWITTER has been hot with posts, a lot from Henry County Probate Judge/Commission Chairman David Money and Houston County Commission Chairman Mark Culver. I have not watched FACEBOOK but TWITTER has been heating up.

Houston County Commissioner Chairman Mark Culver said in a TWITTER Message "once again the morons at ALGOP have chosen politics over safety of our citizens and future of our State and local economies. Most of them haven't a clue on the condition of our road system. I am a 32 year elected Republican County Official and former State Executive Committee member. Seen this movie before".

Henry County Probate Judge/Commission Chairman David Money said in a TWITTER Message " I agree totally. I was there yesterday. Embarrassing, So many sheep can led in any direction. To those who introduced that ridiculous resolution, please share with us your solution to a problem that is only getting worse day by day."

A resolution was presented at the Alabama GOP conference this past weekend. It was presented by Morgan County's Tom Fredrick's and brought to the floor. The resolution took aim at the upcoming legislative session which begins March 5 and concluded that the GOP Party REJECTS any increase to the current state fuel tax.

While Fredrick's worked with former Alabama Senator Trip Pittman to reword his resolution to better fit his intended results, Frederick's scraped his and Pittman's work and reverted to his original resolution.

This led to a shouting match between members of the GOP executive committee on Saturday. After a lot of back and forth the Alabama Republican Party Executive Committee voted to adopt Frederick's original resolution, 61 to 39%.
