On 12/26/2018 at approximately 7:44 P.M. an officer with the Marianna Police Department attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a motorcycle for not having a license plate displayed, at the intersection of River Forest Road and Jefferson Street. When the officer attempted to effect the traffic stop, the white male driver, later identified as, Chase Edward Elkins of Tupelo, Mississippi, accelerated southbound on Jefferson Street then turning East on Kelson Ave. and then South on Madison Street.

While traversing the residential roadways within the City of Marianna, Chase Edward Elkins was observed committing numerous traffic infractions, presenting egregious disregard for the safety of other motorists sharing the roadways. Due to concerns with the safety of all parties involved as well as the citizens of Marianna, the pursuit was terminated.

Shortly thereafter, officers of the Marianna Police Department discovered the motorcycle stopped at the intersection of Daniels Street and Lafayette Street, with the driver, Chase Edward Elkins, dismounting his vehicle and then laying the motorcycle on the ground. Elkins was then taken into custody and did agree to speak with officers after being advised of his rights under Miranda.

He did advise officers, post Miranda, he had attempted to elude the officer because he did not have the required endorsement to operate a motorcycle on the roadways of the State of Florida.

Chase Edward Elkins was transported to Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
