Sheriff Meeks advises Dees was charged with Criminally negligent homicide and her bond was set at $3,000.00. According to Meeks, Dees has already been released from the Covington County Jail after being bonded by a local bonding company.

According to Covington County Jail records from Friday, June 22, 2018, the mother of the 4-year-old child who died in a heat-related automobile death at a residence in Heath Alabama on May 19, Erica Dees, 30, has been arrested and charged with Criminally negligent homicide related to the death of this child. The arrest was made by Covington County Sheriff's Investigator, Cato. Dees was booked in the Covington County Jail and is being held with no bond.
