Citronelle woman found shot to death in fire wrecked house

Mobile County Sheriff’s Office opened a homicide investigation Wednesday after a woman was found in a Citronelle home that burned down a day earlier.


Officers discovered a body they believe belonging to 35-year-old Candy Jansen Newburn in the wreckage of the house. They now know she was shot before the house was set on fire, according to law enforcement. The body will have to be identified by dental records before it can be confirmed if it’s Newburn or not.
