City of Mobile Mayor Files Lawsuit Aginst City Council - Mobile’s mayor-council fight may hinge on definition of ‘employee

MOBILE:     Mobile’s mayor has gone to court asserting that by trying to hire an employee, the Mobile City Council is exceeding its legal authority. The council, via the disputed contract, says that not only is it not exceeding its authority, it’s not trying to hire an employee.


No wonder it’ll take a judge to settle this.


When Stimpson requested a temporary restraining order against the council on Friday, it represented something rare in Alabama politics: A city more or less suing itself.
