Coffee County Sheriff Arrests Fugitive From Justice

COFFEE COUNTY:    On November 20, 2017 at app. 2:00 PM Coffee County Sheriff Deputies responded to a call in reference to a possible assault. The location was in the 2400 block of County Road 201.


Coffee County Sheriff Deputies made contact with the complainant, Eric A. Miller, a 40 year old white male.


The Sheriff Deputies conducted the investigating and interviewed the persons at the residence. Through the investigation the alert Coffee County Sheriff Deputies noticed some issues. As the investigation progressed the Deputies uncovered the Eric A. Grubbs was an escaped felon from the State of Illinois. 


Coffee County Deputies quickly took Grubbs into custody without incident. It was determined that he was wanted for Burglary, Parole Violation and Escape. The wanted bulletin indicated Grubbs was possibly armed and dangerous.


Coffee County Deputies placed Grubbs in the Coffee County Jail for Fugitive from Justice charges. He is awaiting extradition to the Illinois Department of Corrections.


Coffee County Sheriff Dave Sutton praised his officers and their actions. Sutton said you never know who you will encounter, but with the bulletin that Grubbs was "armed and dangerous" the Sheriff Deputies were involved in a situation that could have easily had a bad outcome. But the professionalism of the Deputies involved and the training provided to the officers allow their instincts of safety to be common practices.


And Grubbs apprehension was handled without any incident.
