Coffee County Sheriff Dave Sutton Makes Announcement For Fourth Term As Sheriff

COFFEE COUNTY:     This evening 3rd Term Coffee County Sheriff Dave Sutton announced his bid for re-election as Coffee County Sheriff. When elected in June, the registered voters of Coffee County will have placed their confidence in Dave Sutton four times to serve and protect the citizens and guests of Coffee County.

Sheriff Sutton was sworn in by Alabama Sheriff Association Executive Director Bobby Timmons in January as President of the Alabama Sheriff Association. Representing 66 other Chief Law Enforcement Officers, Sheriff’s, as their leader of the Sheriff Association.

Sheriff Sutton said he made one promise when he sought the office of Sheriff. That promise was to a 5 year old little girl. She asked then candidate Dave Sutton, when elected Sheriff, please clean up the meth house across the street from her house. Mr. Sutton, please so I can ride my tricycle and bicycle in my yard.

Sheriff Sutton kept that promise to this prescious child. As soon as Dave Sutton became Sheriff Dave Sutton, he lead the Coffee County Sheriff Department into the drug investigation of the meth dealer. That drug dealer was convicted in State Court and served time and now sits in Federal Prison for dealing death and destruction. 

But that little 5 year old child was allowed to then be a child and ride her tricycle and bicycle not in fear of the death and destruction across from her home.

Sheriff Sutton praised the men and women in the Sheriff Department. The deputies, administrative and corrections division of the Sheriff Department.

Sheriff Sutton said the patrol division of the Coffee County Sheriff Department have patrolled 5 million miles in the Sheriff Crusiers in the 11 years he has been Sheriff.

They have received 122,931 civil papers and served 123,360 of those. They have received 27,521 arrest warrants and served 25,147 of those arrest warrants. The deputies have received over 9,354 complaints and made over 13,256 arrests. The deputies have received over 6,284 training hours. Sheriff Sutton said specialized training.

The Sheriff Department Correctional Staff, Sheriff Sutton praised the men and women that manage and operate the Coffee County Jail. During Sheriff Sutton’s tenure 26,235 people have been booked into the Coffee County Jail.

With the duty of the jail a responsibility a lot of people are not aware of. It is the Sheriff’s responsibility to feed the inmates of the Coffee County Jail. During Sheriff Sutton’s tenure the Coffee County Jail has served more than 1,637,820 meals to those in jail.

Sheriff Sutton has added some deputies and investigators. A dedication to higher security in the courthouse. A civil process server has been added that has helped manage the service of civil papers.

Sheriff Sutton has has 5 audits during his term as Sheriff. All of the audits, Sheriff Sutton and the staff of the Coffee County Sheriff Department have passed completely.

A lot more accomplishments. Sheriff Sutton enjoys a great working relationship with fellow law enforcement agencies and officers in Coffee County. He also enjoys a great working relationship with area law enforcement agencies and officers, local - state and federal.

Dave Sutton is the Sheriff. Dave Sutton asks for four years to serve and protect the citizens and guests of Coffee County.
