COLUMBIA:    The Town of Columbia is being kicked from the Senior Citizens Program of SARCOA with some serious violations and possible criminal laws violated.


The letter from SARCOA to the Columbia Mayor, Lanny Lancaster and the Town Council Members dated May 1, 2017 accuse Mayor Lancaster of approaching the Coordinator and accusing " the bitches " of calling and complaining which prompted the investigation.


According to the SARCOA letter, Mayor Lancaster's reference to "the bitches" was in reference to the participants at the center.


The Senior Center is run by the wife of Columbia Mayor Lanny Lancaster. The Mayor is reported to eat every day at the center.


SARCOA has canceled the contract with the Town of Columbia. They have demanded the town refund money on meals where they are accused of over 900 forgeries of persons reported to have gotten the meals that were to be provided.


PLEASE NOTE:  The Town Council is not accused of any violations in the letter. Only the Columbia Mayor Lanny Lancaster and his wife who was the Senior Citizens Coordinator.


The monies which was paid based on the alleged 900 forgeries was federal money according to the SARCOA letter. 


SARCOA sent the letters to Alabama Senior Services and the Alabama Ethics Commission. This, according to the letter, is required by law.


The letter does not indicate if a criminal investigation will be conducted by Columbia Chief of Police Shad Floyd, the Houston County Sheriff Department, State Bureau of Investigation or the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
