COLUMBIA: 00:25 AM. Houston County Sheriff 911 rolled Columbia Police, Houston County Sheriff Deputies and Pilcher Ambulance to a suicide attempt.
The call location was in the 11000 block of East County Road 22.
Columbia Police ( not Chief ) was the first officer on the scene. That officer called for assistance to "step it up", the victim was unruly.
Two Houston County Sheriff Deputies ( not the Columbia Police Chief ) responded to the call for immediate assistance from the Columbia Police Officer.
After a few minutes the subject who was laying in the roadway in a reported effort to commit suicide was detained. Pilcher Ambulance was instructed to "stage", stand by a safe distance away until law enforcement deemed the scene safe.
Law Enforcement were able to safely secure the subject. He had been involved in a motor vehicle accident without injuries, appeared to be intoxicated and was disorderly.
Houston County Probate Judge Pat Davenport has given certain Houston County Sheriff Deputies the authority to order a person into behavioral medicince when the situation warrants it.
