Columbia Police Chief Determination Hearing Postponed

COLUMBIA:    There was a determination hearing on Columbia Police Chief Shad Floyd scheduled for tonight. It was re-scheduled for Monday night before the Columbia Mayor and City Council.


Floyd had resigned as Police Chief. When he resigned he was paid until the effective date But was not to work and turn in his police vehicle and equipment.


Near the date Floyd’s departure date he withdrew his resignation. The Mayor and City Council voted to terminate Floyd. He had ten days to request a hearing.


The council ten voted to place him on administrative leave without pay. Of which we reported. Then the council was advised by the Alabama League of Municipalities they had to pay Floyd until his determination hearing.


The determination hearing was scheduled for this evening. Do not know why the rescheduling.


We will be there Monday.
