Abbeville, Alabama – Abbeville Mayor Billy Helms and Henry County Commission Chairman David Money announced today that plans are progressing for a new economic development project at the former West Point Pepperell building in the City of Abbeville and Henry County. Mayor Helms stated, “We are working diligently for new jobs and new investments for Abbeville and Henry County.


There are still hurdles to go, but we are excited about this project becoming a reality. This will be a shot in the arm for our citizens and local economy, and we look forward to a formal announcement in the coming weeks.” Judge Money added, “This is the result of a unified effort by some key team members who have worked diligently on this project for several months. Our citizens can be proud of the work that has been done to position Henry County for this opportunity.


Economic development projects like this one bring good-paying jobs to our citizens and their families. This is just another example of the importance of establishing and maintaining positive relationships at the state, regional and local levels.” Included in this team effort to bring good-paying jobs to Abbeville and Henry County have been: Mayor Helms, Judge Money, Governor Kay Ivey, and local, state, and federal officials.


In addition, the Alabama Department of Commerce, Alabama Industrial Development Training, and Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs have been invaluable assets.


Key regional partners have included: City of Headland, City of Dothan, Houston County, Dothan Area Chamber of Commerce, Grow Dothan, Genesee & Wyoming Railroad, Southeast Alabama Regional Planning and Development Commission, and the Economic Development Administration.
