On Saturday, April 21st, WRC’s Assured Data Destruction, The Ark Dothan, Alabama Cooperative Extension System, and Discovery Recycling will offer residents the opportunity to have their unused outdated electronics ($1.00/diagonal inch disposal fee for glass-screen TVs and computer monitors, this does not apply to flat screens), paper records and data storage materials shredded and recycled during a FREE Community Recycling Event. Data storage in computers can be removed upon request for immediate destruction or given back to owner. Drop off your items to be recycled or shredded at the Houston County Farm Center Parking Lot from 8:00am - 11:00p.m. This free event aims to raise public awareness of the need to securely destroy confidential material in order to prevent identify theft and fraud, as well as to encourage people to recycle their electronics destined for the landfill. The drop-off event is free and open to the public. Assured Data Destruction is AAA NAID (National Association for Information Destruction), the highest certification available for the secure document destruction business. Please contact Cynthia Green at WRC’s Assured Data Destruction for acceptable paper items at 334.792.0022, Ext. 308, email [email protected] or Phillip Carter at the Houston County Extension Office for acceptable electronics at 334 714-3458 or email [email protected].
