ENTERPRISE: RSN went to the Enterprise City Council Meeting to confront the City Clerk of Enterprise, Robert Dean, Jr. About a records request made by Enterprise Councilman Al Miller. The City Clerk has refused to supply to public records documents to the “sitting” councilman in order for him to make an informed decision.
This City Clerk, who came to Enterprise in November 2017, makes $ 125,000.00 per year. Dean came from Anniston where he served as Public Works Director. Note the Public Works Director was responsible for Code Enforcement, City Cemetery, Electrical Engineering, Enviornmental Services, City Garage, and street.
Dean has never been a City Clerk. By the way the City of Dothan’s City Clerk pay is around $ 60,000.00.
The City of Enterprise uses RDS to collect sales taxes. Dean wants Premacorp to collect sales taxes. The City of Anniston uses Premacorp. They only have 15 to 20 cities nation a wide.
RDS has thousands of clients.
Councilman Miller wants the documents in order to make a informed decision to best swerve the people of Enterprise in making a decision. Dean has refused.
The City of Enterprise is, by law, to be managed by the Mayor. The current Mayor is a minority. Councilman Vickers, Goolsby and Townsend are running the City of Enterprise. When the request for the documents were made Dean ran to the trio councilman. Who by the way we have information they have possibly been violating the Open Meetings Law and meeting in secret.
The trio apparently has no confidence in the minority Mayor in his ability to manage the City of Enterprise. That is or they are racist and don’t think a man of color has the ability. If they did they would not be circumventing him.
A worksession is at 4:30 PM followed by the meeting at 6 PM. We will leave stream the work session and the regular meeting is streamed by the City of Enterprise so we can watch it.
Turner Townsend ran on transparency. But after elected he went into the closet.
