Cottonwood Man Arrested in Jackson County

On 6-19-18 at approximately 19:01 hrs members of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office assigned to the United States Marshal’s Service Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force executed an arrest warrant at a residence in Malone, FL. During the execution of the arrest warrant, multiple other subjects were located at the residence. One of the subjects, Zackery Mercer of Cottonwood, AL was observed attempting to conceal objects in a vehicle. While visually checking the vehicle, a member of the Fugitive Task Force observed a Marijuana cigarette in plain view. Subsequently, a probable cause search of Mercer’s person revealed two plastic baggies containing quantities of Methamphetamine.


Mercer was lodged at the Jackson County Correctional facility to await first appearance.


Sheriff Lou Roberts would like to express his most sincere gratitude United States Marshal’s Service and its Task Force for their continuing effort in ensuring the safety of our community. The United States Marshal’s Service Florida Regional Fugitive Task Force comprised of members of the following agencies to include, but not limited to the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, the Bay County Sheriff’s Office, the Panama City Police Department, the Panama City Beach Police Department, and the Department of Homeland Security.
