HEADLAND: On Monday, April 24, weather permitting, crews will begin resurfacing County Road 5 in preparation for an Alabama Department of Transportation project.
While County Road 5 is being paved it will be reduced to one lane with pilot car to direct traffic. Motorists should plan accordingly and use caution while traveling in a work zone.
The Alabama Department of Transportation project will consist of removal and replacement of the bridge over Blackwood Creek on Alabama Highway 173.
Once the County Road 5 resurfacing is complete, crews will begin removal and replacement of the bridge. County Road 5 will be used as a detour during the bridge project.
ALDOT awarded the project to McInnis Construction, LLC., out of Summerdale, Ala., at a cost of $3.48 million with 175 working days. The project is expected to be complete by Summer 2018.
ALDOT’s mission is to provide a safe, efficient, environmentally sound transportation network across Alabama. For further information, visitwww.dot.state.al.us.
