COURTWATCH.    For January 22, 2019


Monday was a Federal, State and Municipal holiday where all government was closed to include the banks.


TUESDAY, January 22, 2019


HONORABLE BENJAMIN LEWIS, DISTRICT COURT JUDGE HOUSTON COUNTY:     Judge Lewis begins with Initial Appearance. The persons in the Houston County Jail which have not made bond appear before Judge Lewis via closed circuit TV from the jail to courtroom. This is an “advisory” hearing where Judge Lewis advises each person of what they are charged with, range of punishment, certian rights to include the right to have an attorney appointed should they be unable to afford one and they qualify financially.


JUdge Lewis then moves into a TRAFFIC COURT docket. There are 304 cases on the traffic court docket. These are listed as Bench Trials On traffic tickets issued by Alabama State Troopers.


HONORABLE JOHN JOHN STEENSLAND, CIRCUIT COURT JUDGE OF THE 20th JUDICIAL CIRCUIT:  


Judge Steensland has one civil case, motor vehicle negligence case scheduled. One civil case on a Motion To Stop Garnishment,


HONORABLE KEVIN MOULTON, CIRCUIT COURT JUDGE OF THE 20th JUDICIAL CIRCUIT:   


Judge Moulton will hold Show Cause Docket of 53 Circuit Court cases at 1:30 PM today. These are because defendants have not done what has been ordered but the court. Normally it is money. Judge Moulton Hal so has some morning cases, 10, plea of guilty, probation, show cause cases.


HONORABLE LARRY ANDERSON, CIRCUIT COURT JUDGE OF THE 20th JUDICIAL CIRCUIT:


Judge Anderson has one civil case, bench trial in a civil case. Judge Anderson also has one domestic relations case, Petition to Modify a divorce.


HONORABLE BUTCH BINFORD, CIRCUIT COURT JUDGE OF THE 20th JUDICIAL CIRCUIT:


No posted docket but he handles certian Juvenile Cases of which there are no posted dockets. There is also a lot of orders issued and to be considered from a tremendous heavy court docket last week.


HONORABLE TODD DERRRICK, CIRCUIT COURT JUDGE OF THE 20th JUDICIAL CIRCUIT:



The 20th Judicial Circuit consists of Houston and Henry County. Judge Derrick is in Henry County this week with 5 Circuit Civil cases and 5 domestic relations cases.


HONORABLE LORI COLLIER INGRAM, DISTRICT COURT JUDGE OF HOUSTON COUNTY:



No docket listed. Handles a lot of cases of which no dockets can be posted because they are Juvenile Cases.
