DALE COUNTY:
On January 3rd at 6:21PM Ozark-Dale County E911 dispatched Level Plains Police and Dale County Sheriff’s Office deputies to the 300 Blk of Meriwether Rd in Level Plains in reference to a firearm assault. Due to the location of the incident Ozark-Dale County E911 and Enterprise Police received multiple 911 calls from neighbors who reported hearing multiple gunshots in the neighborhood. At 6:25PM a DCSO deputy and LPPD officer arrived on scene and found a white male lying in the driveway of a residence suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Deputies began performing life saving measures but the victim was pronounced deceased a short time later. The victim has been identified as 54 year old Mark Hausfelder of Enterprise.
Investigators believe an ongoing dispute between the two parties led to the shooting. The other individual involved remained on scene until law enforcement arrived and was interviewed by DCSO Investigators. No charges are being filed at this time and at the conclusion of the investigation the case will be forwarded to the Dale County District Attorney’s Office to be presented to a Grand Jury.
The Dale County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Level Plains Police Department, Level Plains Fire Department, Enterprise Rescue, Enterprise Police Department and the Dale/Geneva County District Attorney’s Office.
