The deadline to apply for an absentee ballot for the November 6, 2018, General Election is next Thursday, November 1, 2018. To vote by mail, the voter may request an application by contacting the Absentee Election Office or obtain an application online at www.alabamavotes.gov and mail to the Absentee Election Manager at P.O. Drawer 6404, Dothan, AL 36302. All applications MUST be received by Thursday, November 1, 2018. Third-party delivery is not allowed. To vote in person, the Absentee Election Manager’s Office is located in Room 417 of the Houston County Courthouse and is open Monday-Friday, 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. To contact the Absentee Election Office, call 334-671-8700.
IMPORTANT DATES
Thursday, November 1, 2018: This is the last day voters may apply for a regular absentee ballot for the November 6, 2018, General Election. Applications must be received in the Absentee Election Manager’s Office on this date. No ballots can be mailed to voters after this date. Only one application per envelope accepted; no third-party or electronic delivery is allowed.
Monday, November 5, 2018: This is the last business day before the election and is the last day a voter can return in person his or her regular absentee ballot. No one, not even a family member, can return another person’s ballot, except a medical emergency ballot. This is the last day to vote business emergency ballots.
Tuesday, November 6, 2018: Mailed ballots must be received in the Absentee Election Manager’s Office no later than noon this date. Emergency medical ballots must be received by noon on this date in the Absentee Election Manager’s Office by the designee.
