Deputies and Southern Junction Fire Chief Saves Life Of Crash Victim

REHOBETH: A recent motorcycle accident may have had a fatal outcome if three Houston County Sheriff deputies had not responded quickly.

On Oct. 21 at 10:41 a.m., a call came into E-911 reporting a motorcycle accident at the intersection of State Road 109 and State Road 605.

“Once deputies arrived on the scene, they knew the victim was suffering from severe trauma,” said Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza. “However, I have been told by our training officer Sgt. Trent Blair that quick thinking and the life-saving skills the deputies are taught helped to save the victim’s life.”

Let me add to the congratulations of saving this man’s life. Along with the deputies and first to arrive, Southern Junction Fire Chief Matt Boster assisted the deputies in saving this man’s life. Boster snatched the victim’s beLt from him and helped make a second tourniquet and placed around the leg to help control the bleeding.

The Houston County Sheriff Deputies did a great job and so did Matt Boster. In additon to Southern Junction Fire Chief Matt works with RSN.

TEAM WORK - UNITED IN EFFORTS

What makes me proud. This was a combined effort of the UNPAID PORFESSIONALS across Houston County. While the Sheriff Deputies are paid, they roll up their sleeves, jump in and go to work. Along their side is a host of volunteers.

On this wreck, Sheriff Deputies, Chief Boster of Southern Junction Fire, Rehobeth Fire and Rescue, Dothan-Houston County Emergency Management. Dothan Fire Batallion Chief Pete Webb who brought a medic and Dothan Fire Egine 2 ( Lakewood). All worked together, UNITED, in order to save lives.

It makes me proud to be a part of a team that works together, not for glory but for the common goal and purpose of saving lives.
