Dothan - A Sanctuary City For Misdemeanor Violators - Thanks To Dothan Municipal Court

DOTHAN:    This past week we started about the shambles the Dothan Municipal Court System is in.

Houston County Circuit Clerk’s Office went and attempted to help straighten it out. There is no hope.

RSN informed you of a lawsuit filed in the United States Federal Court - Middle District - under United States Federal Court Keith Watkins. The suit was Ozark Resident Anthony Cooper verses the City of Dothan.

The alleggations begin with Dothan Municipal Court Judge Rose Evans Gordon NOT DOING HER JOB and not seeing defendants in the 40 to 72 hours required if they have not made bond. 

The City of Dothan has a belief they are above the laws. We have Alabama law and then City of Dothan laws, and those in charge are going to do it their way and never listen.

And in this article, the officials are taking aim at me, the messenger, and never paying attention to the message. That is normal. They have already had meetings on how to shut me up but it ain’t going to work!

Judge Gordon would not see the people in jail in the prescribed time, but would do it every 7 days. She would see them via closed circuit TV and lock the courtroom doors.

Cooper filed a lawsuit. Dothan settled on a Tuesday for $ 42,500.00. The funny thing is Cooper was in the Dale County Jail the following Saturday. When I cautioned them they quickly informed me they did their jobs, knew how to do their jobs, and did it right.

Cooper is like Otis on Andy Griffen Show. He is always in the Dale County Jail. And they ave never been sued.

But as a result of Dothan Municipal Court Judge being to lazy ( she is the second highest paid in the City of Dothan with the City Manager being the first), and Judge Gordon not doping their job, Dothan has now become a SANCUTARY CITY for misdemeanor violators. Come to Dothan, steal on a misdemeanor. The Dothan Municipal Court will allow you to sign your own bond and release you.

Only if you come in contact with "local" law enforcement will you be arrested. Dothan Police will not travel outside about a 30 mile radius to pick you up.

There are alternatives,, but again Judge Rose Evans Gordon, and for some foolish reason she listens to Joe Herring and Len White of the Dothan City Attorney’s Office, and there is no resolution.

So until then - those who want to steal - if you gt caught by Dothan Police and it is a misdemeanor, you are in a sanctuary city in Dothan.

And not one of the Dothan Commissioners ( Mark Saliba does not know he is Mayor Yet 0 with the backbone to fix it. But that is normal.

Dothan grows "in spite of" and not "because of" the leadership we have here.
