DOTHAN: The 5 member Dothan Personnel Board is set to meet on January 8, 2018 at 3:30 PM.
The Board will consider a request from Dothan Fire Chief Larry Williams. The request is to abolish one currrent position Of Fire Battalion Chief ( Paramedic ), which is vacated on the retirement of Greg Hutchinson, and create one new classification of Deputy Fire Chief or Deputy Fire Chief Paramedic.
The Deputy Fire Chief would be a pay range 642 ( $ 62,192.00 to $ 94,827.20 ). If the Deputy Fire Chief Paramedic postion the pay range would be pay range 702. ( $ 72,176.00 to $ 110,011.20 ). The difference is dependent on the applicant qualifications.
There are nine Dothan Fire Stations: Central, Southside, Lakewood, Highlands, Westgate, Napier Field Road, Technology Drive and Eastside. The Dothan Airport Fire Department works in conjunction with Dothan Fire Department but is a seperate department.
On each shift there are two Fire Battalon Fire Chief’s which divide the stations. At each of the fire stations are Captains that manage each station. The Battalion Chief’s manage a certian number of Captain’s.
The Deputy Fire Chief would be one that is directly under the Fire Chief and commands the entire department. Currently Dothan Fire Department consists of approximately 175 fireman and support staff.
The Dothan Personnel Board will also consider the disposition of the appeal of former Dothan Police Officer Jared Bladen. The matter was tabled at the Personnel Board’s last meeting. Bladen was terminated as a Dothan Police Officer by Dothan Police Chief Steve Parrish.
The allegations against Bladen is he notified a civilian the vice officers were in service very early in the morning. Normally when they are on duty very early ( like at 4 AM ) they are preparing to execute search warrants. The person notified is alleged to have been one to be involved in illegal activity.
The Dothan Personnel Board will also select a Chairperson for 2018.
