Dothan Fire Department Testing Fire Hydrants

The Dothan Fire Department is beginning our annual fire hydrant testing cycle. This is an annual procedure to ensure proper operation of the system.


Firefighters throughout the City will be testing all hydrants now through the end of October. Although this procedure should not cause any disruption or adverse effect on our customers, occasionally it will cause minor discoloration of the water for a short period.


Therefore, citizens on the Dothan Water system are encouraged to check their water prior to staring laundry or cooking over the several weeks. Should you have discolored water, residents are encouraged to allow water to run from multiple faucets for several minutes or until it clears up.


If the water does not clear up after 30 minutes residents should contact the water department at 615-3302 for assistance.
