DOTHAN: Dothan Police, Houston County Sheriff Deputies and Dothan 911 dispatchers were part of the Inauguration Ceremonies in Montgomey today.
These police officers, deputies and 911 staff are emergency certified officers and communications officers. Some are trained in tactical communications.
Through Alabama Emergency Management and Dothan-Houston County Emergency Management the 911 operators assist in handling of emergencies around the state.
Some have worked other inaugurations.
Today marked the inauguration of the second lady Alabama Governor. The first, Lurleen Wallace was the first ever lady who was elected as Alabama Governor. She was a Democrat.
Today Kay Ivey became the second lady to hold the title of Alabama Governor and the first ever Republican Lady to hold the title.
Tonight at midnight marks the change in several offices. A new Lt. Governor, Public Service Commissioner, new Covington County Sheriff, Butler County Sheriff, Barbour County Sheriff and other offices. Some new office holders have already taken office.
Tonight at 12:01 AM the 20th Judicial Circuit sees a new Circuit Judge being John John Steensland take over the reigns as Circuit Judge.
Tonight at 12:01 AM the 12th Judicial Circuit sees a new Circuit Judge being Sonny Reagan. He will take over the reigns as Circuit Judge.
Several new office holders across the state.
