HOUSTON COUNTY: Early Saturday morning a Houston County Sheriff Deputy went to make a traffic stop on U.S. Highway 84 East of Dothan.
The ones "behind the blue lights" did not make the decision but the one "in front of the blue lights" made the conscious decision that he was not going to stop for the blue lights.
And it was on.
The chase went to Range and Stough Street where the suspect vehicle wiped out a stop sign, a fence and came to rest against a house.
Before the suspect could continue his rabbit instincts and run, Houston County Sheriff Deputies Hall and McKinney were on that butt, however were in a foot chase as the suspect ran around the rear of the house.
The subject was quickly apprehended after a fight. His car was totaled. But they got their man.
This incident occurred about 2:30 AM.
Because the officers were slightly injured Criminal Investigation Division Commander Donovan Arias and Major Bill Rafferty interupted their beauty sleep and responded because of the injured officers. Again the injuries were minor.
The suspect with the allergic reactions to the blue lights. Houston County Sheriff Donald Valenza is a very nice and cordial innkeeper. He leaves the light on for you at the Houston County Jail.
The suspect was Cornelius Owens. He had outstanding arrest warrants for parole violation. So he is in the Houston County Jail under a no bond.
