The Houston County Probate Office encourages the citizens of Houston County to participate in the upcoming September 26th Special Republican Primary Run-Off Election.

Reminder

Cross-over voting rules became effective August 1st.  When you voted in the Primary your preference of which party ballot you requested was noted by your name on the list of registered voters.  You may only vote in a Run-Off election of that same party.  Explanation:

  • If a voter voted in the Democratic Primary Election, the voter may only vote in the Democratic Run-Off Election.  A voter MAY NOT cross over and vote in a Republican Run-Off.

  • If a voter voted in the Republican Primary Election, the voter may only vote in the Republican Run-Off Election.  A voter MAY NOT cross over and vote in a Democratic Run-Off.

  • If a voter DID NOT vote in a Primary Election or voted a Non-Partisan Ballot the voter may choose either party in a Run-Off.

Sample ballots can be found in the Probate Office or on our website at www.houstoncountyprobate.org

We currently have 70,451 registered Active/Inactive voters

The polls are open from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m.

You must present a VALID photo identification to vote.  An EXPIRED Alabama driver’s license or state ID card is NOT a valid form of identification if the expiration date is more than 60 days past due.

The last day to register to vote in the Special Election or update your voter record was Monday, September 11, 2017.  The last day to postmark a registration is today, Monday, September 25th

You vote according to your residential address so if you moved you cannot vote at your previous location.  If you did not update your voter record before the deadline then you will vote by Provisional Ballot at your new location.

You may contact the Board of Registrars at 334-677-4776 if you have questions about your registration or where you vote.  They are open Monday - Thursday from 7:30 a.m. until 5:30 p.m.

The last day to apply for an Absentee ballot was September 21st.  The last day to hand-deliver or postmark an Absentee Ballot is today, September 25th.   If you would like more information on voting by Absentee ballot please contact the Absentee Election Manager’s office at 334-671-8700.

In addition:  If you are a resident of Houston County and interested in serving as a poll worker in future elections please visit www.houstoncountyprobate.org  or call 334-677-4703.
