FLORIDA HIGHWAY PATROL OFFICER vs. LIBERTY COUNTY FL. SHERIFF:    Tonight while researching some other items a YOUTUBE video came up of a FHP Trooper verses Sheriff.


I clicked on the video which was recorded in 2013 and watched it.


Seems the Liberty County Florida Sheriff was escorting a School Bus back to Liberty County and within the State of Florida from a championship game back to Liberty County.


From the dialogue between the FHP Trooper and the Sheriff it is apparent the Sheriff and the bus got apart and the Sheriff was attempting to catch the bus. The Sheriff drove a unmarked Tahoe.


The FHP Trooper disagreed with the Sheriff flashing his emergency lights in an effort to catch the School Bus. The Sheriff disagreed with the Sheriff. And there was an exchange. The Sheriff assured the FHP Trooper he would be hearing from the Colonel over FHP and the FHP Trooper was sure the Sheriff would be contacting the Colonel.


It is apparent the Sheriff was not in Liberty County but was within the State of Florida.


In the State of Florida the Sheriff's are more dominant than Police. Just the opposite in the State of Alabama, the police are more dominant then the Police.


However the Chief Law Enforcement Officers in each county is the Sheriff. While some Attorney General's claim they are the Chief Law Enforcement Officer that is not the case. The Attorney General is the Chief Prosecutor but not the Chief Law Enforcement Officer.


In the video it is apparent EGO is the real issue. The FHP Trooper had his opinion and the Sheriff had his.


EGO is a strong force in law enforcement. Often times the law enforcement eye gets off the ball and focused on the individual ego rather than the mission.


The video is real life. Is not about or anything I have said is concerning Dothan or Houston County. The agencies work well together.


But in some areas EGO is above officer safety or citizen safety.
